Dr. Johnny McConnaughhay's veterinary experiences range from treating traditional patients such as dogs, cats, cows, and horses to more exotic animals like ostrich, monkeys, and even pythons. He resides in the central Nebraska town of Hastings. Throughout his 18 years of private practice, Dr. McConnaughhay's two daughters have spent endless hours in the clinic assisting him and experiencing first-hand the excitement of going on veterinary calls in the country to midnight emergency surgeries at the clinic. These father-and-daughter adventures are the primary inspiration behind his desire to write Maddi Moo, Veterinarian's Daughter, Presidential Adventure. A graduate of Kansas State University Veterinary School, Dr. McConnaughhay has also worked as a veterinarian for Nebraska's State Horse Racing Division and the United States Department of Agriculture. Among his many authentic adventures, Dr. McConnaughhay actually served as the veterinarian on-call when President Regan visited Hastings College in 1988.
